But, you can check out my profile on Untappd, if you want to see how normally gauge my tastes. It wasn't as malty as I'd normally expect from a nut-brown / amber ale, and had a bit more of a hoppy finish. The Snake Venom Amber was probably one of my favorite amber ales. So, I would NOT advise ordering an appetizer, unless you have a group and are sharing food. ![]() Paired with the burger and the beer, it was quite a large meal (and I had a huge appetite, having missed breakfast that day). so, not "hot" per se, but it definitely had "a bite") Onion rings were a nice-size, and had a crisp and tasty crust - pretty much exactly the way I like them. This would probably be a 1.5 beer chili on that scale. as in the number of beers it would take to finish a bowl. (FWIW, during college years, we'd rate our own homemade chili in "beer". It was definitely "warm," but not enough to make me break out in a sweat. so, that was a good response!) As for myself and the meal, I can tolerate spice pretty well, though some types may inflict heartburn. ![]() When I asked "how spicy" the chili would be, the waitress jokingly said "if you like spice, it's good - if you're a bit of a wimp, you're better off ordering something else." (and, overall, our waitress was quite excellent with the banter and dealing with our large group of 10. I had the Killer Chili 1/2 Pound Burger with onion rings, and a Snake Venom Amber Ale. By the time we were leaving, there was a lot of open seating. We arrived a bit after 2pm, approximately, and it was VERY busy (it was a 45+ minute wait). We went here for lunch, after taking a trip on The Dolly, just up the road. ![]()
